Emre Can

Emre Can

Born: January 12, 1994 (age 20), Frankfurt, Germany
Height: 6′ 0″ (1.84 m)
Weight: 181 lbs (82 kg)
Career start: 2011
Current team: Liverpool F.C. (#23 / Midfielder)

He had to serve an apprenticeship with Bayern’s Regional League South team before being named in a senior match-day squad for the first time for the home march against Schalke at the end of February 2012.

Then came four successive Bundesliga appearances towards the end of the next season and his first senior Bayern goal, the only strike of a home match against SC Freiburg.

He had also played in the German Supercup match against Borussia Dortmund at the start of the season when Bayern beat their fierce rivals 2-1 at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich

Can had mainly played as a midfielder for Bayern Munich II in the Regionalliga Bayern. He made his debut for Bayern’s first team in the 2012 DFL-Supercup and his Bundesliga debut against 1. FC Nürnberg on 13 April 2013.

Bayer Leverkusen
On 2 August 2013, Can signed a four-year deal with Bayer Leverkusen which included a buy-back clause for Bayern Munich. The move was to ensure Can got first-team football under his belt before ideally being resigned by the Bayern in the future.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge pointed out Bayern’s past successes in loaning out young players for purposes of gaining experience such as first team member Toni Kroos had at Leverkusen, captain Philipp Lahm at Stuttgart and full back David Alaba at 1899 Hoffenheim.

In his first and only season at Leverkusen, Can netted four goals and notched up four assists, while largely operating in a defensive capacity.

Can’s performances while at Leverkusen sparked interest from Liverpool, who noted Can’s performances in both the Bundesliga and Champions League, the latter in which he made his debut against Manchester United at Old Trafford which ended 4–2 in the favour of the Manchester side.

Brendan Rodgers said:

As Liverpool captured what he described as an ‘exciting young talent’ when Emre Can became Liverpool’s third signing of the summer transfer window in July 2014.

Having represented his country across all youth levels, captaining their U17 World Cup campaign in 2011, the 20-year-old’s switch to Merseyside is another exciting signing for the Reds.

Combining a mixture of power and poise, the versatile player is well versed in piloting the pace of games, especially when he is deployed in a deep midfield role. Can revels in box-to-box responsibilities, but has also performed effectively on the left as an attacker and full-back, as well as in central defense.

@BBCMOTD2 @RedJohnny5 @DjLeeButler Playing as a wing back , Center Mid at 20 he could become one of the best players in the world, he looks to have s decent range of passing and gets stuck in too.  Marks out of 7.5 with room for improvement as he  get more established in the team.
